Meeting the King: I’ve never personally met a king or royalty for that matter. But seeing them on TV and even in movies, we see the traditions of honoring a king or the protocol for being in the presence of royalty.
In recent times we've seen the transition from Queen Elizabeth of England to King Charles and all of the ceremonial processes of the transition and day to day formality of the role of king. On the royal website, to be courteous is the primary advice when encountering the king, https://www.royal.uk/encyclopedia/greeting-the-king-and-queen
There is no greater King than our Lord and he deserves our courteousness and reverence, even more than any earthly royalty.
In Matthew 22:37 (NASB) Jesus says, "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND."
To show our love for the Lord, are we at least courteous and reverent toward our King. Do we communicate with our Lord in prayer on a daily basis, or is it only when our paycheck is less then our bills or when someone close is sick.
The Lord's Prayer is a step in the right direction. When Jesus was ask how do we pray?
Matthew 6:9-13 (NASB) "Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 'Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. 'Give us this day our daily bread. 'And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 'And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [ For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.' ]
I would challenge anyone to begin as Jesus instructed praying this prayer three times a day. Morning, Noon and Night, pray this prayer, while on your knees if physically able. Most people have a cell phone where you can create a reminder to help with this. If that's not an option, then stick on note on your coffee maker, your bathroom mirror and your nightstand if it will help.
We should first learn to pray, then we can begin to pray for family, friends and others you meet that need your prayers. How you graduate in your prayer life is of less importance than being true and consistent in it. Our goal should be to give Him thanks and praise for putting breath into our lungs each day?
Personally, I pray 3 times a day using the Lord's Prayer and then add to it, sometimes repeating prayers for some that need it for a long time and other times they go on and off my prayer list as needed. Every once in a while I will just add the statement, "Lord please keep and bless all of those that are in need of your grace and mercy".
Matthew tells us, that we will be judged by every word from our mouth. Our prayer's today should certainly come in handy on that day.
Matthew 12:36-37 (NASB) "But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment. "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
Remember there is no scoreboard, it is the intent behind what you do, even in prayer, pray with reverence to our Lord.
God Bless!
